Recent Work for Ultrasuede®
Ultrasuede by Toray International is one of the most recognized performance fabric brands in the world, used across furniture, automotive, fashion, and hospitality applications. When Work The Brand brought this project to my studio, the brief was clear: showcase the material's extraordinary range of colors and textures while communicating the durability and luxury that defines the Ultrasuede brand.
The decision to shoot in studio rather than on location was deliberate. Interiors photography on location introduces variables that are difficult to control — natural light shifts, spatial limitations, and production logistics that can slow everything down. In studio, we had complete command of the light, the set, and the pace of the shoot. Vivid Interiors and stylist Bianca Pagliai built environments that felt genuinely residential without the constraints of an actual location, allowing us to focus entirely on how the material photographed across different setups and color stories.
Fabric photography presents its own technical challenges. Texture, sheen, and color accuracy all behave differently under different light sources, and the goal with a brand like Ultrasuede is to make the material feel tactile — like the viewer could reach into the frame and feel the surface. Every lighting setup was designed with that tactile quality as the primary objective.
The result was a library of images covering the full color assortment, styled for both advertising and editorial use, shot from Dhanraj Emanuel's studio in Greensboro, NC.
